Latest News from the Tixier Vineyards
It's "palissage" time here in the Chablis vineyards. What is "palissage"? We are lifting the wires that hold the vines on each side of the base so that the branches won't break and together will form a sort of continuous hedge. After a long winter of pruning, rumour has it that 2011 will resemble 2007 when the harvest fell two weeks earlier than usual and the winemore "lively" and "mineral" than most years.
Fortunately, we haven't suffered from either the drought that is threatening France at the present time, nor from any of the severe thunderstorms that have come and gone this year without leaving any damage from hailstones.
We are proud to announce the 2011 silver medal awarded to our Chablis vieille vignes (2009)at the Macon wine fair in April. Making good wine is a long and on-going process and when our effort is recognized, we can't help being pleased.
